Its unusual zircon-rich mineral assemblage has given rise to the inevitable comparison with the zircon-rich Eneabba deposits. This article reviews the historical importance of the Eneabba deposits and discusses the current development plans that Iluka Resources Ltd has proposed for the Eucla Basin deposits, which may quickly surpass planned production from its Murray Basin project.
In Detail- Silicate accessory minerals Heavy mineral sands deposits are usually mined for the minerals ilmenite, rutile, leucoxene and zircon. However, there are several other heavy minerals that may accumulate in sufficient quantity to be considered as economically important by-products. This article explores some of the more common silicate accessory minerals that can be found in heavy mineral sands, and their applications.
