| Polyesters are derived from the reaction of polybasic acids or anhydrides (e.g., isophthalic acid, adipic acid, trimellitic anhydride or other dibasic acids) with excess polyhydric alcohols. These resins are also referred to as oil-free alkyds. This raw material category report includes both thermosetting and thermoplastic polymers that may find use in wet applied coatings or powder coatings. Additionally, polyester hybrids are included whenever the polyester is the major constituent.
