| This other rigid bonding end use market segment (Europe / European Adhesive / Adhesives Industry) includes information on all adhesive applications for fabrication / assembly of electromechanical machinery and equipment, including: machine tools, food processing equipment, robotic equipment, medical and industrial diagnostic equipment and motors, but excludes computers, electronic components and controls which were covered in electronics / telecommunications adhesives. The following listing of application categories does not include unit assembly / fabrication, because virtually all electromechanical machinery / equip-ment must be disassembled periodically, to a greater or lesser degree, for preventative maintenance and/or repair, thus providing very limited opportunity for permanent fastening / bonding, e.g., welding, riveting or adhesive bonding of components, housings, shields, and other major subassemblies. There is, however, one major exception, and that is shakeproof mechanical fastening using anaerobic adhesives, e.g., threadlocking of nuts / bolts and other screw-in fasteners, shaft mounting of bearings, vanes and chucks, etc., in the final assembly of machinery/equipment, which provides more assured fastening, but not true permanent fastening.
