This packaging end use market segment report for disposables (Europe / European Adhesive / Adhesives Industry) includes information on all adhesives used for composite bonding of disposable / disposables products. This entails the laminations process for towels and tissues, the pick-up and tail-tie adhesives in production of toilet tissue and towels, the lamination and assembly of adult and baby diapers and sanitary napkins, and the manufacture of hospital gowns, pads, covers, headrests, bibs, etc. This does not include the binder used to make the non-wovens.
The construction of diapers may be quite complex and many involve up to fifteen (15) adhesive areas. A few examples include backsheet attachment to tissue, pulp / SAP core to tissue, barrier cuff attachment, leg elastic, waistband construction and the various closure strips and tapes. The adhesive products for these applications are generally extremely tacky and have long open times. These adhesives are therefore considered pressure sensitive even though they are supplied via the same channels and applied during product construction similar to other non-pressure sensitive adhesives.
